Yeah I have heard its really cold as well. Kind of annoying because I didn't want to take a sleeping bag, but will probably have to take one purely for the night we spend under the stars!

Hey Megz,
Sorry to hear bout the fella! I've been working in the UK for the past few months and (due to money and work) haven't got to see a lot, but I can suggest taking a trip up to Scotland and see Glasgow and Edinburgh, head across and have a look at Cardiff in Wales, if you can, get down to Cornwall, it's supposed to be very pretty down there. Manchester and Leeds are apparently nice as well. Try and get across to Hastings as well, if not for the history then to check out the rocky beach and spend some time in London! It's one of my fav cities! Climb St Paul's, have a look at the Tower of London, Shakespeare's Globe, Tate Modern, the National gallery (most of the galleries in London are free to visit). If you're going to do the London Eye, try and get a place at Sunset or sunrise, best times for viewing, but the views of London are nice. Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, if you can afford it, check out a play in the West End - go to one of the half price booths in Leicester Square the day you want to go, you should be able to pick up a bargain there. Have a walk down Regent and Oxford Streets - some great shops along there, Hyde Park, St James's Park, Covent Garden Market... Hope that's not too much information!
Also, if you're going to be using the buses or the Tube in London, it might be cheaper to get an Oyster Card rather than buying day passes or single tickets.
I'm doing the 9 day ANZAC tour: 18th April - 26th April 2010. I will be in London for the last three days in March (I'll have just come back from a Europe trip and will be heading off to Egypt before the ANZAC tour) and was thinking of trying to get to Cambridge, Oxford and/or Cardiff if you wanted to meet up and/or come along?

But i hope you realise that alot of people just go to Gallpoli get drunk and run a muck. I promised my nanna i woud be cracking one open for her! if you are in the tour, i think all the topdeck groups are together at the dawn service so thats pretty cool. im trying to meet other ppl doing the tours so i can make a friend before we go.

15 Day ANZAC Expidition 12 April 2010
meganspeed
Hi guys,
Just thought I would clarify something. Back in years past, people were allowed to bring alcohol into ANZAC Cove whilst camping overnight for the dawn service. In 2005 a rock concert-style performance was arranged by organisers at Anzac Cove where people drank and slept between headstones. However, after much criticism, this has stopped.
Today the dawn service at ANZAC Cove is treated with the respect it deserves. People are searched before entering ANZAC Cove, and strictly no alcohol is allowed. People can bring in other drinks and food for the overnight wait, but just not alcohol. Overnight, from approximately 8pm they show a number of related documentaries and interviews and live military bands also perform. While it is not a "party" atmosphere, it is a great night to sit up with the rest of your Topdeck group (as well as all the others) and remember why we are there.
However, when not at ANZAC Cove, Topdeck is dedicated to taking you on a once in a lifetime trip packed with not only culture and history but also adventure, fun and relaxation.
So while you are free to party it up every other night on tour, we do ask that all our apssengers respect the rules now inplace at ANZAC Cove and not bring alcohol to the event. Though of course, Meganspeed, you are free to crack one open for your nan once we leave the site after the Australian and New Zealand Services!
For those who are thinking about doing the tours, I was a Trip Leader on our 9 Day tour last year, and we had a great time. Not only did we get to experience the dawn service on ANZAC Day, but we also got to really see some of the sites of Turkey. Our Turkish guide was so full of information that everyone learned more than they ever expected! And the city of Istanbul is a firm favourite among all of our Trip Leaders.
I look forward to seeing all of you in Istanbul before our ANZAC trips this year,

that's a great sleeping bag! I have the same one, but it won't be warm enough for sure... you can use it with this http://www.gogogear.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=815 and it'll be much warmer. its a great modular combination.

I'm booked on the 14 day tour and pretty pumped! My mate went a couple of years ago and found online this amazing sleeping bag which is kind of an outfit as well? Okay, so she looked like a TeleTubbie but she said it was uber-awesome! Just trying to find out more details from her.

Not long now, can't wait actually! My brother has now decided he is going to tag along. We get into Istanbul at 6pm on the 20th. So if anyone is keen to catch up before the tour starts let me know. Also we haven't booked our accommodation yet so if anyone knows a good place (hostel) or will be someone that night let us know.
Cya all soon
