I definately am! I'm from Sydney, Aus and I'm going over on my own and never actually been overseas before either.
I think it's a personal choice whether you feel comfortable to do it alone, but a lot of people do do it

Going alone is a great way to meet tons of new people and since they all like to travel, you'll have lots of traveling buddies in the future! Don't let going alone stop you, it's well worth it!

I did it last year for a 28 day tour. Always a bit nerve racking at the start but by the end of tour you will have a heap of new friends.

They had all already been overseas and this is my first time and i wanted to be selfish and make it about what i want to see and do. There are sooo many benefits for solo travelling on topdeck but the best reasons are because a)youdo what YOU want, no need to follow your friends around just to keep the peace and  you're more open to meeting new people

I would expect a fair amount of people are on the tours alone, hence a big reason for choosing the group tour method of travelling around Europe.
