Your thread has come to life again! It was good to meet up with you. We should meet up soon again before our trip and swap packing lists.
Hi Sam, I'm Sue from Perth also. My husband, Siang and I will be doing exactly the same tour dept 1 May 2010. We are both looking forward to the trip.
Hi Amanda, What an awesome trip you have scheduled! Around the world! If you find out with regards to sending stuff back to Australia...I'd be interested. I have heard that shipping was quite cheap to post to Australia...but I'm not sure...maybe start a new thread?
Gee!! This trip all coming up so quickly! It's exactly 51 days to the start of the tour...44 days to the date of our flight. Woohoo!

Was I wrong to do this? Just going by what my travel agent said

My name is Amanda, F, 28 and from Australia. This is my first time overseas and first time doing a tour also. I have payed to do the European Getaway dept. 5th June 2010. It is great to see that others on here are doing the same one as me. I am also going to travel on my own. Before I get to London, I am going to spend a week in Thailand, and after the tour I am heading to Edinburgh, Dublin, then to New York, LA and Canada each for aprox 4 days. So this my trip of a life time! I am a bit nervous and also nervous about making sure I have enough money to cover my time in each place (budget). So I think once I am on the plane about to leave and have everything all sorted out like vaccinations, accommodation, budget, cash money, bag and stuff, it will hit me, and I will get excited.
Please email me if you are interested in chatting further regarding the tour. I would love to share thoughts and ideas and also would love to meet fellow tour friends that are going on the same tour as me: amandatmcrae@hotmail.com Any advice would be fantastic? One question I have thought of: if I buy souvenirs while on the trip, whats the best way and economical way to send them back to Australia?
Cheers Happy Traveling!

I also want to know if washing powder is widely available? I have to say that it's at the bottom of my priority list of things to fit in my bag:)

This is my first time overseas, but my boyfriend Nik spent six months in Europe a couple years ago. But he only went to about half the places we're going to on this tour, and he's looking forward to being there on my first big trip overseas! 20 weeks to go doesn't seem so far away, and I definitely need to start saving! My flights and insurance are all paid for, but I still have to pay off the rest of the trip and then really crunch down for my spending money! I've had a few friends go on Contiki, and others on Topdeck, and I'm glad I chose Topdeck! Contiki seems to appeal for the 18 year old gap year students and from what I've heard it's all party party party and maybe see the sights if you're not too hungover. I'm all for partying, but I want to see a lot of places as well!

We’re going to spend about a month in the UK after the tour, then head to NYC (so excited!!) Canada then Fiji on the way home for some sunshine and cocktails!
Have you guys done much travelling? This is the first big trip for me! I’m excited to find out what our tour will be like, I’ve had heaps of friends go on Contiki tours, but not Topdeck.
I’ve started the countdown already, 20 weeks to go! Eeekk better start saving =)

Never travelled in this area before, happy to be escaping Aus winter though!!
Like the guys i've jst got a huge backpack to drag around, and after doing a bit of backpacking highly recommend it as a luggage option.
