I am really excited to visit different places and meet other people!!! I don't have any time to do more traveling this summer because I only get 6 weeks off school but definitely summer 2011. How about you guys, planning to visit more countries? Are you two planning to stay at Clink Hostel the night before tour begins? Do you anything about optional activities, meaning what they are and the prices for them??

On Request means that we would have to request the accommodation in order to confirm your place on the trip. A trip will come up 'on request' when there are a limited number of places left on a specific trip or when the departure is coming up and we have had to release the accommodation.
Guaranteed Departure indicates that this trip is going ahead and there is no chance that it will be cancelled.
No Availability means a trip is full.
Hope this helps!

At Heathrow, buy an all day travel card (zones 1-6) and you can use this on tubes, trains and buses for the whole day. If you are going to the UMI Hotel take the Piccadilly Line to Earl's Court then change to the District Line (bound for Edgware Road) to Bayswater. From there it is a short walk from the tube station. Go to www.tfl.gov.uk for more information about getting around London.

Booking through their website is no different to being an Aussie and walking into an STA office in London and booking there. They still need your details like your home address and nationality, i.e. the country where your passport was issued. If you think of all the travellers who book tours on the spur of the moment in London, it's technically the same thing. I don't think Topdeck would even know what means you booked your tour through, except for if it came via their website or via a travel agent. It's not like they'd be getting an email saying, 'this person booked through an STA UK travel agent, but is actually a Sydney local'. Besides, this thread has been going for a while and none of the Topdeck Forum Administrators have come on and posted that we're not allowed to book through this method. If you do choose to book via STA UK anyway, I'd do what Shezarina suggested and contact Topdeck after the booking goes through to make sure you're on the tour. Good luck with your booking, and I hope you get a good deal whoever you book through!

My local travel agent is YHA Travel, and I told them what I was doing (booking through STA UK to save approx $500) and my agent was fine with that - she couldn't get me any better deals via Topdeck's Australian agent.
The agent I spoke to on the phone at STA UK (she called me) was very pleasant and helpful and told me more info about the tour than I'd previously known. They've taken my money so as far as I'm concerned I should already be booked. If I don't hear anything from her or Topdeck closer to the time of my tour, I'll definitely be following up to find out what's going on.

Just wondering if anyone is booked on either of these two tours. The Russia Scandi connects with a number of other tours (ie. Red Star Special).. would love to get an idea of who is going!!

I am from Australia but my Aussie travel agent (Flight Centre) told me that anyone who books through a different country will have their ticket cancelled. STA UK did not seem to think this would happen. Surely they wouldn't be able to book at all if I couldn't go on the tour. Can someone please confirm this?
